Can't Make it to DC for Museums Advocacy Day? Advocate from Anywhere with These Great Resources!

The 10th Annual Museums Advocacy Day is happening February 26-27, 2018. The Ohio Museums Association is proud to once again act as a supporter sponsor of Museums Advocacy Day, and will be joining fellow advocates from across Ohio and the United States to meet with our elected officials about the importance of museums in our communities.

Can't Make it to Washington D.C. this year? Your voice can make a difference - where ever you are!

In 2018, federal funding for museums will continue to be a major issue and museums could also be significantly impacted by tax reform, education policy, infrastructure legislation, and more.

But legislators do not know how public policy impacts museums and the citizens they serve if they don’t hear it from you—their constituents. You don't have to be in Washington, D.C. to make the case for museums. The stakes have never been higher and every voice matters!

OMA and the American Alliance of Museums have lots of great resources to help you s
peak up for museums during Museums Advocacy Day and throughout the year. Visit the OMA Advocacy page for a full list of resources, including:

Customizable Letter to Legislators
(Microsoft Word Document)
The American Alliance of Museums also has several resources to help you advocate from anywhere, including:

2018 Advocate Materials - Including issue briefs, museum facts, "museums as economic engines" report and more.

Advocate from Anywhere Resources - Including publicity tools, sample social media posts, how to invite your legislators to meet locally and more.
