Responsible RestartOhio Museum Sector Reopen Guidelines

On June 4, Governor Mike DeWine announced the reopening of certain facilities – including aquariums, art galleries, museums and zoos – with health and safety restrictions.

These organizations may open beginning June 10, if they are able to follow Retail, Consumer, Service & Entertainment Guidelines and other applicable additional guidance.

These specific guidelines are listed in the "Reopen Guidelines and Other Considerations for Museums" document below.

In addition to those guidelines set forward by the State of Ohio, the following information included in the "Reopen Guidelines and Other Considerations for Museums" document below includes additional ideas to demonstrate a museum’s commitment to provide a comfortable, safe, and healthy space for visitors and staff.

Please be advised that some or all of the following ideas may not be applicable to every institution. It is strongly recommended that before implementing any of the ideas below the institution carefully evaluates, and consults with outside legal counsel as appropriate, the legality, applicability and potential efficacy of this information for the institution.
