Dennison Railroad Depot Museum seeks an Event – Rental Coordinator.
This is an hourly, part-time position with the possibility of becoming full-time in the future.
The staff member works with a dynamic team to orchestrate and implement events rentals. Rental spaces range in scope from the new Pullman Bed & Breakfast, the Masonic Temple (multiple spaces), The Panhandle Theater (Red Room) in the Museum, the Business Car, the Gazebo, the cabins and lower levels at Schoenbrunn, and eventually, rental space at the new Clay Museum.
The Event-Rental Coordinator will work closely with the marketing team to promote the rental spaces, as well as with the Executive Director and Director of Museums to coordinate rental logistics, price schedules, set-up and tear-down of events. The Coordinator will be expected to be available or have coverage during events, and assist with managing spaces. The Coordinator will attend regular staff meetings and keep all staff up to date on rental spaces and rental events.
The Coordinator will attend various events such as Wedding Shows and Travel Events, as well as outreach to potential corporate customers to encourage use of rental spaces.
The position also is the Assistant to the Marketing Coordinator, with all marketing assigned by the Coordinator. This can include Press Release, Social Media platforms, email blasts, creating flyers and more.
The position benefits from a staff member with keen attention to detail, management and customer service skills, good organization and ability to be a team player. The staff member should value the vital role museums play in preserving history and within the community and have knowledge of planning events. The ability to communicate effectively and professional with the public and staff, as well as good writing skills are essential. Good computer skills (Microsoft office, Google Calendars, email, social meeting) are also needed. Preparing and entering calendar data, sales data, invoices are also important, as well as the ability to design promotional material. Applicants should be comfortable handling logistics of ordering and coordinating supplies and deliveries.
Two years of customer service preferred, degree or experience in hospitality, public relations encouraged.
After 90 days, Employee will receive vacation equal to one weeks schedule in year one, two weeks in year two, three weeks in year five. The First and last days of school can be taken off (not counted in vacation) with advance notice. Schedule is flexible other than Tuesday morning staff meetings. Must be able to work weekends if there is an event. All major holidays off. Schedule is very flexible, but days must be requested off in advance prior to schedule being made.
Salary range: $12/hour
